This post will show you how easy it is to connect with hoop dancers in your town no matter where you live.
First, I have a confession to make…I didn’t have any friends when I moved to Pennsylvania until I started hooping, which proves that hoops are friend magnets.
So, without further ado, here are the 3 ways to meet people who love hooping:
1) Meetup.com: Go to meetup.com and do a search by clicking on the red “Find” button. You can search for terms such as: circus, flow, skill share, hooping, hula hoop, hoop jam, or hoop dance.
Make sure to include your state or town in the same search, like this: “circus, Kailua-Kona” or “hooping, Orlando”.
Once you find a meetup, join it and attend one of the events. Make friends.
Can’t find what you’re looking for? Create your own meet up! That’s what I did in 2009 when there were no hoopers in my one square mile town. Now, we’re everywhere! Side note: I eventually left meetup for facebook, but now that facebook has made it impossible to reach people who like my page unless if I pay facebook, I’m back on meetup!
2) Visit Hoopcity.ca and use their find a hooper function here.
I found out my neighbor, Chrissy, is a hoop dancer by using Hoop City’s search function. We’ve hung out at many parties together. She even did a crystal singing bowl session on me. Hoops bring people together <3
3) Attend a retreat, festival, or other major hooping event. You will meet people from all over the world who become lasting friends. Yes, really!
You will blast through your comfort zone let your inner hoop Goddess (or God) shine.
